Attempted robbery, Burleigh Heads

Detectives have released vision of a man who maybe able to assist in relation to an attempted robbery at Burleigh Heads on Tuesday, July 11.

At 4.20pm, a 14-year-ol d boy was sitting on his ebike talking with friends on the footpath of the Gold Coast Highway near Gardenia Grove. A man walking on the footpath has pushed the boy and bike over and attempted to steal the bike.

The victim held onto his bike and refused to let go. One of the boys friends kicked the man twice before grabbing the key from the bike and running off. The man chased the friend but was unable to catch him.

The man is described as having a tanned complexion, about 185cm tall, medium build and was wearing a black singlet and black shorts. He left the area in a silver sedan.

Anyone who recognises the man or has further information is urged to contact police.

The victim received bruising to his right eye as a result of the assault.
