Police continue to appeal for public assistance to help locate 78-year-old Wendy Smith, missing from The Gap since Thursday, February 2.
Officer in Charge of The Gap Senior Sergeant Robb Wann said police had conducted extensive searches and enquiries including interviews and checks with local residents, businesses, hospitals, reviewing CCTV, and checking transportation networks.
“The Gap police with assistance from the Missing Person’s Unit and local intelligence unit have been and continue to follow-up other lines of enquiries and investigative avenues.”
“A ground search utilising police, Polair and SES volunteers was conducted of bushland and creek areas in The Gap without success.”
“We believe someone must have seen Wendy since Thursday February 2. It is possible she may have travelled out of The Gap area, so we are asking everyone, not just those in the local area, to keep an eye out and report any sightings to police.”
Police have released CCTV images taken of Wendy at a Glenquarie Place business at approximately 3.40pm on the day she was last seen.
Investigations indicate Wendy travelled to Lahore Street from this location, and was last seen there at approximately 9pm, when it is believed Wendy left the address on foot.
Family and police continue to hold serious concerns for Wendy’s welfare, as her disappearance is out of character.
“Wendy leaves behind a husband, son and two daughters who are desperate to make sure she is okay,” Senior Sergeant Wann said.
Police are appealing for Wendy, or anyone with information regarding her whereabouts, to immediately contact them.
