Stolen vehicle targeting police, Vincent

Police are investigating two incidents involving people in a stolen car targeting police vehicles in Vincent overnight.

Around 11.35pm, a marked police car was patrolling in Palmerston Street when a dark blue Nissan Navara utility drove at the police car before someone in the Nissan threw a rock, shattering the windscreen and spraying the officer with shards of glass.

The officer was transported to Townsville University Hospital with minor cuts to his eyes.

At 12.30am, police were at Palmerston Street investigating the original incident when the same Nissan Navara was intentionally driven into the driver’s side of a stationary marked police vehicle.

The officer in the vehicle sustained a minor injury but was not transported to hospital.

The Nissan Navara was stolen from Joyce Street, Kirwan around 6.20pm yesterday afternoon.

Police are appealing for anyone with further information relating to these incidents to come forward.
