Update 3: Search continues in the Spring Mountain area for missing Augustine Heights woman

Police continue to coordinate search efforts for missing woman Kate Mandala, 74, who was last seen on Friday, December 30 when she wandered away from the family home in Augustine Heights.

The search, into its sixth day, has involved police, SES, officers on ATV, on horseback, specialised trackers and the use of a drone searching the Spring Mountain area.

Search crews located Kate’s footwear (black slides) at Spring Mountain on New Years Day.

Police today played over loud speakers a message for Kate in her native language, a Malawian language, as she speaks limited English.

Kate has limited knowledge of the local area as she has only recently arrived in Australia. Kate also has a medical condition which may cause disorientation and confusion.

Police continue to ask residents and visitors in the Spring Mountain, Springfield Central, Springfield Lakes, Augustine Heights and Brookwater areas (particularly in the Spring Mountain area) to check their properties – yards, garages, sheds etc. If residents know they’re neighbours are away, they’re also encouraged to check their neighbour’s yards if appropriate.

Kate, has a dark complexion, slim build and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, a long multicoloured wrap skirt and a black sun hat.

Kate (pictured) who went missing from Augustine Heights on Friday morning, December 30, was last positively seen when spotted on CCTV ( in Kenneth Drive, Augustine Heights, at around 6.50am, and then seen on foot in the vicinity of Broadford Drive and Aberdeen Circuit in Spring Mountain between 9am and 10am the same morning.
