Update 5: Missing woman, Elanora – body and vehicle located

Detectives attached to taskforce Victor Arum investigating the disappearance of 61-year-old Elanora woman Wendy Sleeman have recovered a body and vehicle at Windsor on Brisbane’s inner north this afternoon, Thursday January 26.

South East Region Regional Crime Coordinator Superintendent Brendan Smith alleges analysis of electronic data led police to the Thondley Street address just before 5.30pm where the blue Honda jazz vehicle was found in a garage alleged to have recently been privately hired.

‘Tragically, the body of a woman we believe to be Wendy was found inside the vehicle. This is a devastating outcome for her loved ones and our thoughts remain with them,’ Superintendent Smith said.

‘I’d like to thank the public for their assistance during the investigation into her disappearance and death and appeal to anyone who may have seen the blue Honda jazz with Queensland registration 952-AT4 to contact police, particularly residents of south Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast.

‘Verified sightings on Tuesday January 24 include Ironbark Road, Elanora around 3pm, the intersection of Paradise Point  Road and Kingston Road, Logan Central at 5.50pm and Jean Street, Slacks Creek, at 5:52pm.’

Specialist police arrested a 30-year-old man in Durack yesterday afternoon in relation to this investigation.

He has been charged with multiple domestic violence offences and appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court today, Thursday January 26 where he was remanded into custody until Tuesday February 14.

Investigations are continuing.
