Police shooting, Stretton

A man has been shot by police after officers were called to reports of an armed man in Stretton this evening.

Police attended a Liquidambar Place address around 7pm where they were confronted by a man armed with a weapon.

Negotiators were notified to attend the scene and speak with the man.

The 43-year-old man allegedly advanced at officers and was subsequently shot at approximately 7.30pm.

He was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A crime scene has been established as an investigation by the Ethical Standards Command continues.

The investigation is subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
