Update: Serious traffic crash, Macgregor

Two men have been taken into custody in relation to a serious traffic crash at Macgregor yesterday afternoon (November 17).

Just after midday an unregistered Commodore failed to stop for Highway Patrol officers conducting registration checks on Kessels Road.

Police activated lights and moved into traffic in an attempt to reach the vehicle and conduct an intercept.

It is alleged the vehicle was then driven away from officers at speed before it travelled through a red light at the intersection of Mains Road and Cosmic Street and struck a 12-year-old boy crossing the road, who suffered minor head injuries.

The male driver then exited the car and fled the scene through a nearby shopping centre.

The 12-year-old boy remains in a stable condition at Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Detectives from Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit this morning attended a Woodridge residence, where a 24-year-old Wynnum West man and a 19-year-old Wynnum West man were taken into custody without incident.

Investigations are ongoing.
